Lunch Distribution

Waiting for the examinees near the Quirino exit.

Ready to distribute at the MSU tent.

Ms. Amie Sangcopan, Rep. Hataman's Chief of Staff, gives her instructions at the AMIN tent.

Preparing, transporting and handing meals were the main tasks during daytime.

Headquarters: a place to...

eat ...

discuss strategies ...

... and rest (of course).

Indeed, without our headquarters,
sponsored by the families of
Mayor Datu Saudi Shamrun Ampatuan
and Governor Datu Zaldy Ampatuan,
our bar operations would not have been as successful.

MUSLAF

Atty. Karim Panumpang, President of the Muslim Legal Assistance Foundation (MUSLAF), is not only a major sponsor of the our bar operations.
He also contributed many ideas and moral support for its realization.
In this picture taken during the first AMAL assembly last April 1, 2007, he was sharing his experience and encouraging AMAL members to push through with a bar operations project.

It's Year 5 for AMIN

September 2007 marks the fifth year
of Anak Mindanao's presence in the Bar Site.
Since 2003, it has been giving food and other assistance
for the Mindanaon bar examinees.
For its support for the AMAL Bar Operations,
it pledged at least 50 meals per Sunday
and shared its tent with the AMAL bar operators

3rd Sunday of the BAR: During the Month of Ramadhan

Putting up the second AMAL banner
is as symbolic as the first one.

Certain sacrifices and adjustments
are made to strengthen the group and its mission.

The 3rd Sunday Bar Operations continues... ; )

These photos were taken at the AMAL HQ, Orchid Garden,
on September 16, 2007.

AMAL Bar Ops during the month of Ramadhan

In the middle of the bar operations,
and before fasting,

AMAL members ate together.

~ sharing food and exchanging insightful stories ~

"Fasting in Ramadan develops in a person the real spirit of social belonging,
of unity and brotherhood, and of equality before God.

This spirit is the natural product of the fact that
when people fast they feel that they are joining the whole Muslim society (which makes up more than one fifth of world's population) in observing the same duty, in the same manner, at the same time, for the same motives, and for the same end. No sociologist or historian can say that there has been at any period of history anything comparable to this powerful institution of Islam: Fasting in the month of Ramadan. People have been crying throughout the ages for acceptable 'belonging', for unity, for brotherhood, for equality, but how echoless their voices have been, and how very little success they have met..." says Hammudah Abdalati, in Islam in Focus.

While waiting for the barristers to pass-by
(to give them the last minute tips...)

These few good men still manage to show their best smiles
after a hard day-and-night's work.

Salam! (peace!)
Thank you, AMIN (Anak Mindanao)
for the support!

THANK YOU
FOR VISITING OUR BLOG!

Ready to Take the Challenge: Bar Ops

Just like any organization that has just started,
AMAL is experiencing
growing pains.

Putting up this first banner is symbolic.
It shows that the AMAL as a group
is now officially ready
to take responsibilities and challenges.

Its members have voluntarily pledged their commitment
in order to make their projects work,
especially major projects like
the 2007 Bar-Ops.

With our faith in

ALLAH s.w.t.
and in one another,
we will survive,
and we will learn what we need to learn
in order to make AMAL
truly beautiful,
just like our banner.

INSHAALLAH.

1st Sunday of the Bar

The Alliance of Muslim Advocates of the Law (AMAL)
is spearheading the still ongoing
AMAL BAR OPERATIONS 2007

These were taken during
the first Saturday of the bar month,
September 1, 2007.

As you can see, a lot of volunteers,
including the Mindanao State University (MSU)
Bar-Ops Team,

were there to coordinate with AMAL.

Thanks to all those who helped and are helping.
ALHAMDULILLAH!

ALLAHU AKBAR
and
RAMADHAN KAREEM!
